Punjab, Chandigarh shine

Bassi Pathana, Fatehgarh Saheb: September 15: In a keenly contested six matches held today in the ITI grounds of the Sub Junior U15 National Girls Hockey Championship, Punjab routed Rajasthan 18-0.  Punjab had ensured a lead with eight goals till half time.  Rupi scored six goals including four field goals and converted two penalty corners, Bhatti scored two, Gurkamalpreet 5, Sapna Negi 1, Harmanpreet 3 and Sukhmani 1.
In the second match of the day Chandigarh girls defeated Chhatisgarh 10-0.  Yogeshwari scored first goal through a penalty corner in the seventh minute.  Anuradha scored six goals in a row which included conversion of two penalty corners with aplomb, and four field goals.  She added seventh goal beating the defenders and goal keeper. Arohi Yadav added two field goals to make it 10-0 for the winners.
The fourth fixture between Bundelkhand vs Mumbai was equally poised though Mumbai ultimately won with 2-0.  The first goal came in the 18th minute through Jenimah Rodrigues and in the second half, Anjali increased the lead for the winners in the second minute of the second half.
The fifth fixture between Himachal and Delhi girls, the former showed exceptional grit and finesse in the field and won against Delhi with 2-0.   Madhu of HP team was outstanding in her performance who scored the first goal in 18th minute.  Delhi team continued its foray into Himachal half quite a number of time but failed to score. Kusum of Himachal scored the goal through penalty corner to give its team the lead in the 27th minute of the match.
The last match saw Goa defeating Madhya Pradesh girls by 1-0, though both the teams are now out of contention for the quarter final knock-out stage.  The lone goal was a self goal by the MP defenders as the ball entered the goal post from the defenders’ stick.

MBCT Hockey Nursery defeats Goa by 17-1

Northern girls dominate

In the first three matches of Sub Junior U-15 National Girls Hockey Championship held today morning in the ITI Grounds at Bassi Pathana, the team of MBCT Hockey Nursery defeated Goa by 17-1.
It was literally a one-sided affair as the Amandeep Kaur scored three goals, Ramanpreet-2, Gangandeep-2, Gurleen Grewal 1, Kaplish 5 including a hatrick, Kajal 1, Shweta 1, and Amritpal Kaur 1. 
MBCT Hockey Nursery was on Goa's goal post right from the very beginning and had their first kill in the second minute with another one sounding the goal board in the third minute. 
In the other two matches Himachal defeated Karnataka by 3-1. Himachal's Madhu neatly beat the goal keeper and scored the first goal in 14th minute. Kusum scored the second goal in 20th minute though Kavyashree of Karnataka scored one, but Kanishta of Himachal sealed the fate by scoring the third goal for Himachal. 
Haryana scored 10-1 victory over Bundelkhand.  Till half time Haryana led by 4 goals to nil, while Bundelkhand team conceded one self goal Meenu (5), Simran (1), Anu (2), Monica (1) were the scorers.  For Bundelkhand the lone goal was scored by Shweta.

Finance Minister Punjab inaugurates Under 15 Sub Junior National Girls Hockey Championship

Bassi Pathana, September 14: Minister for Finance and Planning, Punjab, Mr. Parminder Singh Dhindsa, formally inaugurated the 22nd Sub Junior Under 15 National Girls Hockey Championship at Bassi Pathana, District Fatehgarh Saheb, today.


Speaking on the occasion he lauded the efforts of MBCT Hockey Nursery for their efforts in reviving the Indian field hockey by training boys and girls of five years of age since 2009.  “The girls need to be empowered and bringing this national girls hockey teams from all over the country would encourage other girls in Punjab to come forward and show their mettle in the field,” he said.
As an appreciation to the efforts being made by Prof. H.S. Mejie and Mehar Baba Charitable Trust, he announced a grant of Rs.3 lakh for the hockey nursery and Rs.10 lakh for creating a community centre in the area.
Hockey Olympian Mr Balbir Singh Senior, and Brig (retd) Harchand Singh, amongst local MLAs and dignitaries attended the inaugural.
The championship is being organized under the aegis of Indian Hockey Federation (IHF) and is hosted jointly by MBCT Hockey Nursery and Patiala Union Hockey Association with the help of the District Administration of Fatehgarh Saheb.

The 17 out of the 25 teams that arrived today, held the march past who shall be competing for Dr. Thakar Singh Ikolaha Championship Trophy instituted by MBCT Hockey Nursery in memory of great revolutionary from the region.

MBCT Hockey Nursery to host National Hockey Sub Junior U15 for Girls

MBCT Hockey Nursery has been recognised by International Hockey Federation (IHF) as an independent hockey unit at Bassi Pathana, Fatehgarh Saheb, and has been alloted the 22nd Sub Junior Under 15 National Girls Hockey Championship to be held in Bassi Pathana from 14-21 September, 2013. 
Nearly 26 teams from all over the country are expected to participate in this event, which would give a great boost and encouragement to the girls of MBCT Hockey Nursery as well as other girls in the region, to watch their counterparts from different parts of the country competing in the hockey ground. 
MBCT Hockey Nursery had earlier hosted the U14 subjunior National for Girls last year in May 2012, which saw numerous dignitaries including Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab Shri Sukhbir Singh Badal, Member of Parliament Smt Harsimrat Kaur Badal, amongst others gracing the occasion.
