'Hamari Beti'

'Hamari Beti' remains the mascot for the 22nd Sub Junior U15 National Girls Hockey Championship at Bassi Pathana.
"Girls are pride of India," remarks Prof H.S. Mejie, Chairman, Mehar Baba Charitable Trust, who established the MBCT Hockey Nursery in 2009 to train boys and girls from Bassi Pathana under 5 years of age to create a veritable back up of trained hockey players to represent the country at later age.
Fathegarh Saheb had a very unimpressive and dismal male:female ratio in the state, and over the years, MBCT has helped to bring these girls out of their homes and empower them through education, and skill training.
The allotment of hockey tournament for the second time to Fatehgarh Saheb for the girls has helped the girls and women in this region to become aware of the great talent different states in the country have amongst girls, who represent their respective states with pride, he adds.
He thanks the Rotary Club of Chandigarh who launched the 'Hamari Beti' project and encouraged MBCT to use it for inculcating pride amongst girls of the region.
